The Bukhara Institute of Food and Light Industry Technology was founded in 1977, and since 1979, the Department of "Production Processes, Equipment and Their Automation" was established and headed by Professor A.O. Artikov. In 2003, the name of the department was "Automation of technological machines, equipment and production", and in 2011, the activity was carried out under the name "Automation of modern equipment and technological processes". Since 2013, in accordance with the decision PQ-1954 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the department "Information and communication systems of technological process management" was established.
From 2013 until now, the department has been training bachelors in the field of education 5321700 - " Information-communication systems of controlling technological processes " and masters in the specialty 5A321701 - "Information and communication systems of technological process management". Starting from 2019, the training of bachelors in this direction has been started in the form of evening and part-time education.
The department conducts scientific research in the following directions: 1) Creation of energy-saving technologies and equipment in the processing of agricultural products; 2) Creation of information communication systems aimed at increasing the efficiency of production and economy; 3) The methodology of ensuring the quality of education in technical education from specialist subjects based on digital technologies; In order to train competitive personnel, carry out scientific research aimed at eliminating existing problems in production, and for the work of talented students, science clubs, as well as modern laboratory rooms and computer classes connected to the Internet, have been established in the department.
In the department, the successful production enterprises of the Republic "Bukhara Oil Refinery", "Navoi Mine-Metallurgical Plant", "Navoiyazot Production Association", "Lukoil Uzbekistan" production company, "Shortangazkimyo" complex, "Mubarak Gas Refining" "Work" plant, "Navoi free economic zone", "Uztelekom" JSC, "Uz Daewoo Textile" JV, "Ark Eco Tekstile" LLC, "Mergantex" enterprises, "Gala-river" JV, "Dehqonabot potash plant", " Khimavtomatika" open joint-stock company and advanced foreign higher education institutions, including Royal Swedish Institute of Technology (Sweden), Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), University of Leeds (England), University of Leuven (Belgium), University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), University of Primorska (Slovenia), Johannes Kepler Institute of Technology (Austria) and from the CIS countries, cooperation with Stankin Moscow State University of Technology (Russia), Mogilov State University of Food (Belarus), Kostanay State University (Kazakhstan), Almaty International University of Information Technologies (Kazakhstan) folded. Currently, 2 doctors of science and 6 candidates of science are conducting scientific and pedagogical activities in the department. The scientific potential of the department is 43%. Currently, the department has a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in technical sciences, associate professor H.Kh. Kabilov is leading.

543922-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPCR “The Mechatronics (Tempus-Mach) project "Introducing new master's programs and doctoral courses in mechatronics in Uzbekistan" was implemented. Our project partners: Tashkent Automobile Institute, Tashkent Branch of Turin Polytechnic University, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Institute, Fergana Polytechnic Institute, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Johannes Kepler University Linz JKU (Austria), Katholieke University Leuven KUL (Belgium). Within the framework of the project, 8 new master's degrees, 3 doctoral courses, and 4 master's competitive courses in mechatronics were created with partner institutions, and the "Mechatronics" educational-scientific laboratory was established.
