In 1985, on the basis of the department, one of the first ES-1035 model Electronic Computing Machines among higher educational institutions not only in the region but also in the Republic was put into operation. The range of subjects taught at the department was expanded, and the material and technical base was equipped with new modern computers. The department specialized in training master's degree students in the specialty “Mathematical and Software Support of Computing Machines, Complexes, Systems and Networks” and 70610201 – Computer Systems and Their Software (by networks and sectors). During the period from 1996 to 2025, the department trained more than 3000 leading specialists. The department has classrooms, laboratories, and multimedia rooms equipped with the most modern computers and teaching facilities. During 1991–2025, 1 DSc dissertation and 25 Candidate of Sciences and PhD dissertations were defended at the department. The main staff of the department consists of young specialists, whose average age is 42 years. Currently, 3 doctoral students and 3 independent researchers are conducting scientific research on their PhD and DSc dissertations. Their defenses are planned for 2026–2028. Throughout the department’s activities, 32 textbooks and teaching manuals for vocational colleges, as well as 12 textbooks and more than 50 teaching manuals for higher education institutions have been prepared and published with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations. At the “Information and Communication Technologies” Department of Bukhara State Technical University, significant attention is paid to integrating education with industry, implementing the results of scientific research into production sectors, and introducing new forms and methods of applying computer technologies and telecommunication tools in the educational process to improve the effectiveness of education. The department’s scientific research activities are carried out based on a перспективный plan developed for 2025–2030 and approved by the Rector of the University.
The department includes 11 Candidates of Sciences, 1 Doctor of Sciences, as well as 9 researchers who are conducting scientific research in accordance with their scientific fields and relevant problems.
The following are the research topics and brief descriptions of the scientific studies conducted by several professors and teachers of the department:
Murodova F.R.
Fundamentals of implementing a distance learning system based on telecommunication networks for improving the qualifications of pedagogical staff. This research topic is devoted to the development of software for electronic libraries and automated management systems in colleges, lyceums, and base higher educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It also addresses the technology of creating electronic textbooks for specialized subjects and improving teaching methodologies.
Yo‘ldoshev SH.S.
Scientific research is being conducted on studying toxic gases and flame emissions released into the atmosphere during the combustion process, as well as designing and manufacturing energy-saving gas device systems. As a result of the research work, two projects were submitted to the grant competition announced by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Research is also being conducted in cooperation with the private enterprise “Kogon Heating Devices”.
Nurullayev M.M.
“Methodology for the Formation and Identification of Intellectual Potential in Information Technology Education (on the example of general secondary educational institutions).” Within this research topic, the practical significance of introducing educational software used in teaching mathematics in secondary schools is being studied.
