According to the 8th Decree of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1981, the Department of Public Catering Technology was established. According to the order of the Rector of the Institute dated September 20, 2021 No. 508-U on a new organizational structure, the Department of Service and Catering was established on the basis of the Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology.

At the department "Technology of public catering" in 1981-87, associate professor N.B. Egamberdiev, in 1988-90. Associate Professor B.D. Maksmadaliev, in 1991-94. Associate Professor T.A. Sharifulina, 1995-2001 Professor H.T. Salomov, in 2002-2008. associate professor B.Kh. Salomov. From 2008 to 2013, it was headed by Associate Professor N.Sh.Kuliev.
To date, the head of the department "Public catering and service" is Associate Professor Amonova Z.M.
The teachers of the department prepared 10 textbooks and teaching aids, received copyright certificates.
Currently, the department has 5 associate professors, 1 candidate of technical sciences, 1 senior lecturer and 2 assistants. The total capacity is 72%.
